Perception of Pressure
Scorecard

Something has been shaping how you experience pressure
your entire life.
This shows you what it is.

Two people. Same room. Same stakes. Same moment.
One stays clear. One loses access.

The difference is not intelligence. Not discipline. Not strength.

It is how their systems were trained to interpret demand.

This 5-minute screening instrument measures five appraisal patterns that shape how pressure is experienced โ€” before you ever respond to it. Answer based on the last 14 days. Not your best day. Not your worst. The pattern that shows up when pressure is already in the room.

Your Five Appraisal Patterns

These five patterns shape how demand is interpreted before you respond to it. Each is measured on a scale of 3 to 12 โ€” where higher always reflects a wider, more stable appraisal pattern.

Where to focus first

Your two lowest appraisal patterns are the highest-leverage starting points. These are where narrowing is most likely to begin under pressure.

These two patterns are the first areas the book addresses for someone with your profile.

About this instrument: The Perception of Pressure Scorecard is a theoretically grounded screening instrument built on established appraisal constructs from Lazarus and Folkman's transactional model of stress and coping, Bandura's self-efficacy theory, and related research traditions. It is currently deployed as a public-facing screening tool. Formal psychometric validation โ€” including internal consistency, factor structure, test-retest reliability, and predictive validity โ€” is being conducted in active partnership with the VCU Evaluation Laboratory. Band thresholds are theoretically derived and will be refined through pilot data. Results are for self-awareness and developmental purposes only.
